hsmith@howardsmithlaw.comThis investigation is for anyone who acquired securities in Alphabet, Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG) from May 19, 2026 through July 22, 2026.
The Law Offices of Howard G. Smith believes that the Company and certain of its executives violated federal law. Specifically, the Law Offices of Howard G. Smith believes that, throughout the time period mentioned above, the Company misled investors regarding its financial condition. More specifically, the Law Offices of Howard G. Smith believes that the Company misled investors by failing to timely inform investors that the Company’s most powerful flagship AI model, Gemini 3.5 Pro, was way behind schedule.
On July 16, 2026, Bloomberg news reported that Alphabet’s Google is “months behind schedule on delivering Gemini 3.5 Pro, its most powerful flagship AI model” due to the Company’s ongoing coding efforts. Specifically, “[l]ate last month, Google updated the data being used to train Gemini in an attempt to improve [its] skills, but the results were disappointing.” On this news, the price of the Company’s stock dropped precipitously on unusually heavy trading volume. Then, on July 22, 2026, after the market closed, Alphabet released its second quarter 2026 financial results, and disclosed that, among other things, for the quarter the Company had a negative free cash flow of $5.9 billion. In the accompanying earnings call held on the same date, the Company’s Chief Financial Officer, Anat Ashkenazi, further disclosed a significant expansion of expected full year 2026 capital expenditures to $195 billion to $205 billion. Further, Sundar Pichai stated merely that “Gemini 3.5 Pro is currently in testing.” No additional details on the expected commercial launch, customer adoption, or financial impact of Gemini 3.5 Pro were provided. On this news, the price of the Company’s stock again dropped precipitously on unusually heavy trading volume.
